Ofcom broadband and phone social tariff list

How to use Ofcom’s social-tariff list as a starting point, then verify address availability, eligibility and service with the provider.

Last reviewed: 6 July 2026 · UK guidance

In brief

Ofcom publishes information about broadband and mobile social tariffs, but the provider makes the eligibility and account decision. The list can change, and not every provider serves every address.

Use it to create a shortlist. Then check speed, allowance, price, contract, setup, evidence and moving from an existing agreement on each provider’s own page.

Filter by household need

Decide whether the priority is home broadband, mobile data or both. Set a minimum suitable speed or allowance and note any home-phone, accessibility or number-transfer requirement.

Verify the live provider offer

Open the linked official page and check qualifying benefits, account-holder rules and availability. Ask how evidence is verified and whether current customers can move without penalty.

Compare beyond price

Include upload speed, reliability, router, data caps, setup and customer support. A slightly higher tariff may be more suitable if the cheapest option cannot support essential use.

Report misleading or missing information

Tell Ofcom and the provider when a published route is unavailable or materially different. Use the provider complaint process for individual account disputes.

A provider verification message

Use after finding a tariff on Ofcom.

I found your social tariff through Ofcom. Please confirm that it is currently open at my address, the eligibility and evidence, speed or allowance, total price, contract terms and how an existing customer moves. Please explain any difference from the published information.

A practical checklist

  • Use Ofcom for a shortlist.
  • Verify on the provider’s site.
  • Check address and account-holder rules.
  • Compare service as well as price.
